  4. If you are unfamiliar with the concepts of "Uploading" and "Downloading," we
  5. highly recommend you visit either the ASTRONET Personals Help Center or
  6. keyword: DOWNLOAD 101 (Lesson 7 covers Uploading) for assistance.

  8. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you cannot upload and are using Windows AOL 4.0, please make
  9. sure you have the release version. One of the "preview" versions of 4.0 had a
  10. bug that prevents uploading. You can obtain the most current released version
  11. of AOL at keyword UPGRADE.

  16. A. We accept *ONLY* valid, readable and properly named JPG (preferred) BMP, 
  17. or GIF files. We can only accept individual portraits--group shots will 
  18. be rejected.  This is for both practical and privacy reasons. 
  19. It may not be clear which person in a group shot is you, and the others 
  20. in the picture may not want their image online. To help make sure you 
  21. are uploading the right photo, open it first with AOL, using the 
  22. "Open" command from the File Menu.

  24. B. We prefer image sizes of 190 x 190 pixels (about 2 inches by 2 inches),
  25. which fit the online display window. You are free to submit other sizes, but we
  26. must scale or crop it to 190 x 190 pixels. We reserve the right to reject very
  27. large photo files that take too long to download. In general, files should be
  28. 500 kilobytes or smaller.

  30. C. To update your photo with a different one, simply upload a new one and we
  31. will make the change. We want you to be pleased with your online appearance,
  32. but unless it is to correct a problem, we reserve the right to not process
  33. photos if members are merely "alternating" pictures in an attempt to stay in
  34. the "New Arrivals" section. Duplicate photos uploaded within the same 30 day
  35. period will not be processed.

  38. NOTICE TO UPLOADERS:

  40. If you are reading this file and are stuck at the screen you accessed this file
  41. from, to proceed, simply close this screen and look at the bottom of the File
  42. Library display screen. At the bottom of the screen, you should see several
  43. different buttons--one of these buttons should be labeled "Upload." Click on
  44. that button to continue.

  46. The next screen will be the File Upload Form. This form, which is standardized
  47. for all AOL libraries, contains the following fields:

  51. Equipment:
  52. Needs:
  53. File: (display only!)
  54. Description: (required)

  56. The two fields listed above which are followed by "(required)" *MUST* be filled
  57. out before the AOL Software will allow you to upload a file. The rest of the
  58. fields can be left blank. The "File" field can't be changed, but will display
  59. the name of the file you decide to upload. You select this file by clicking on
  60. the "Select File" button then using the "Attach File" dialogue box to pick the
  61. file you want to send.

  63. NOTE: While you are free to place your "Message" to other members who decide to
  64. look at your Photo in the "Description" box provided on this screen, we highly
  65. recommend that you do not use it for this purpose, but create an ASTRONET
  66. Personals Profile instead. Our profiles are searchable, and can be read while
  67. viewing your picture online. Also,  you can readily change profile text at any
  68. time by simply submitting an update.

  70. Photos are processed at least once a day, so you should see your submission
  71. online (check in our "New Arrivals" area) within 24 hours. If there is some
  72. reason we can't put your Photo or Profile online, we will send an explanation
  73. via E-mail from screen name AMatePhoto.
